Random thoughts + Friday favs

I’m heading to Colorado this afternoon! Yay! We are really only going to be there for a little over a day, but I’m still crazy excited.

This is from my last visit a few years ago. My hair was so short!

My all time favorite book is being made into a movie, and I’m just not sure how I feel about it.

Ender's Game

a) I’m afraid they will ruin it, although Harrison Ford at least makes that less likely (Han Solo! swoon).
b) I kind of like that my fav book isn’t mainstream, I feel like it gives me character.
c) I don’t want to have to punch anyone who criticizes anything about the story or deal with people who don’t “get it” or who have their own interpretation of the book. I like my interpretation!!
d) The movie is NEVER as good as the book – yes I am one of those people – it might be an amazing movie, I might love the movie, but the book will still always be better. If you only saw the movie, then I know more about the story than you, because you can never fit the full story and all of its subtelties into the movie, you just can’t. **steps off soapbox**

If you need your spirits lifted, watch this video, I can’t wait for the full documentary. The resiliency of art and beauty amazes me. I’m so philosophical today!

I’m not sure what it is about the Hudson River, but the sunsets here are just incredible night after night. Pictures never do it justice and I never get tired of taking them.

Teaching PiYo Strength for the first time Wednesday was a moderate success. The group was small, but luckily my boss is not concerned about that. I was definitely feeling it yesterday, and I hope my students enjoyed it and got a good workout!

I made a potentially life-changing purchase this week:

sunrise alarm clock

I know, serious stuff. It’s a sunrise alarm clock and I’ve wanted one forever. I’ll update you once I know whether or not it has actually changed my life (I’m still playing with the settings).

It’s officially cold. I had to bust out the space heater (our landlord hasn’t turned on the heat yet), and I rocked full length leggings at Zumba on Wednesday.

Things I’m Loving

My new bodywash:

Of course 🙂 And yes Harry Potter! I feel like I’m due for a re-read of the series sometime soon. I need to make that a priority in my life.

Thanks for sharing the link lady!!! My BF is OBSESSED with Ender’s Game and I had to listen to his rant about it being made into a movie the other day…since I have zero imagination I do not feel particularly torn up about it but based on how passionate he is about it, I get it!

Have the best time in Colorado! I’m off to minneapolis! Maybe I’ll see ya in the skies 😉

That’s so funny! Tell him a fellow obsessed Ender’s Game fan is also concerned so he is not alone! Have fun in Minneapolis, my brother lives there and I just visited this spring, so nice! 🙂

Ahhhh JEALOUS you’re going to be in Colorado. I’ve never been but I really want to go–I hear it’s beautiful. Take wonderful pictures! Also that Gud body wash looks interesting. I love Burt’s Bees so I’m sure I would like that as well.

You should definitely go! It’s like the most amazing place, and in Boulder, it’s like a health and fitness mecca!

OMG I love Enders Game too but had no idea they were making it into a movie. I actually recently bought the whole series on my kindle as I hadn’t read it for years.

I’m now kind of really coveting your sunrise lamp it sounds like a great idea! Although saying that I sleep with a sleeping mask so if I got one I’d have to give that up.

That’s so exciting! I’ve read the first three in the series but have been meaning to read the others forever. I like the later books, but they just aren’t as good as Ender’s Game – because nothing could be!! You will have to let me know what you think of the rest of them though. I’m excited to hear they are finally on kindle, they weren’t when I looked a couple years ago. 🙂

I love Colorado. It’s so gorgeous out there. Have fun!
My favorite books always get ruined by cinematic interpretation. The only one I’ve actually been happy about the big screen version was Jurassic Park…. and they’re about to make another installment in that series very soon. Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.
I definitely can’t wait to hear all about your sunrise lamp.

I didn’t realize they were still releasing books in that series! I may have to check them out. 🙂 Colorado was fabulous. Whenever I go I just want to stay forever.
